Issues Related To Acne
Acne results from an interaction between oils, hormones, and bacteria, which causes hair follicles to become inflamed. Many issues come with it, and they vary in severity and size, with some going deeper into your skin than others. They include:
- Whiteheads (closed comedones)
- Blackheads (open comedones)
- Pimples
- Red surface bumps that have pus called pustules
- Raised and solid bumps called papules
- Larger pockets that have pus
- Cysts, which are deep and firm bumps that have pus
- Abscesses
- Nodules
Causes
Every pore is an opening to a hair follicle, and the follicle is made up of hair and a sebaceous oil gland. The sebaceous gland releases oil (sebum), which goes up the hair and the skin to help keep it soft and lubricated.
Sometimes, problems may occur like:
- Production of too much oil
- Accumulation of dead cells in the pores
- The buildup of bacteria in the pores
When that happens, pimples develop because the closed pore makes it impossible for the oil to escape. Some risk factors that could increase the chances of you getting acne include:
- Having people in the family who have it
- Hormonal changes because of pregnancy or puberty
- Medications
- Too much sugar or carbohydrates in our diet
